Recovery Suite

Max spent part of his Pole Vaulting career in Finland, where regular sauna sessions were normal recovery protocol. Pretty much every family had a sauna inside or outside of their house and it was used almost every evening before their family meal. From a sporting recovery purpose, the sauna was combined with intermittent submersions in the frozen lake. The sauna boosts healing abilities by stimulating the release of heat shock proteins and increasing HGH levels. The heat causes the blood vessels to open up and then when contrast bathing in the ice bath, the blood vessels constrict, so this repeated process known as hyperthermic training acts like a full body pump, sending blood to muscles and joints that need repairing and also removing waste products, thus aiding the healing process. You also sweat a lot which burns calories which can help if you are trying to operate in a daily calorie deficit.

The sauna at Maximise Fitness is a wet sauna where you throw water onto the coals to feel that deep penetrative heat. You can also choose from a variety of aromatherapy oils to add to the water that you use to throw on. This will help you destress and fully relax.

Max will tailor your training sessions to enable you to work strategically and effectively towards achieving your personal goals. All PT sessions are privately booked via Max - this is not a membership facility where members mix and train alongside each other. The gym floor can cater for a wide range of fitness and conditioning sessions. Build strength with free weights, improve posture and flexibility, increase your cardio fitness and mental capacity to work hard and push through your own boundaries.

Max gained an incredible wealth of knowledge from working alongside the best performance staff at British Athletics as a funded athlete, with both Medical and Strength & Conditioning. You will also get nutritional advice and body measurement tracking. Along with your 121 contact with Max, you will have direct virtual access to him 24/7 where he will always be available with a positive can do attitude, to offer any advice or support that you may need outside of training times. A huge benefit to training with Max is that he will do your Sports Massage treatments so you have your Personal Therapist and Personal Trainer all under one roof. This helps in understanding how your body moves and recovers most efficiently.

Treatment sessions are entirely hands on. Max qualified in Loughborough where he went to the University to study Sports Science and train for Pole Vault. He gained a lot of experience treating World Class Athletes in Loughborough who competed in a variety of sports.

Remember Sports Massage is for every day desk workers as well as athletes of all abilities. Max encourages clients to use him for a 1 Month MOT where he treats the full body for 60 minutes. This is a maintenance treatment that helps relieve stress, reduce joint pain and soften muscle tissue to reduce injury risk whilst training or engaging in every day activities.

You can also follow up your massage with the sauna and ice bath if you wish to have the ultimate recovery session.

I have 1-2-1 session with Max, which I absolutely love. You can do as much or as little as you like, safe in the knowledge that Max is on hand with tips, advice and enthusiastic encouragement. His gym is not short of anything and even has its own 2 mascots: Walter and Winnie the dachshunds, a welcome distraction when everything hurts.

I started going to Maximise last July, with the aim of taking my strength and fitness onto the next level. Thanks to the help, guidance and instruction from Max I'm getting there. Able to try out exercises I never thought of, or have the equipment for at home. Great sport massages too. Max is ably assisted by Winnie and Walt.

I have been very happy with the support and motivation that Max always gives during PT sessions. Max gives a challenging exercise routine, pushing boundaries within my capabilities and I have been able to improve my fitness, impacting positively on my health. I am now out of the pre diabetic zone, my cardio health has improved, I’m on target with my personal goals of 3 stone to lose, and it’s brilliant for my mental health. Max has been inspirational in my transformation and I would highly recommend.

I started with Max a few weeks ago, and I can honestly say my fitness level and outlook has taken a whole 360. I had never focused much on cardio and shyed away from exercises however with Max I am confident to do these things! Max will put you through your paces and aim to get the most in sessions from you, he pushes you and encourages you to achieve your best self. Anyone considering training with Max, I would recommend you just do it! You will not regret it.

I love doing the ladies circuits each week. I genuinely look forward to them! Max makes you feel at ease and is very knowledgeable. The gym is well equipped and well worth a visit!

If you prefer 1-2-1 without having hoards of people around then Maximise Fitmess is the place to go Highly recommend, Max’s enthusiasm alongside his knowledge of training and diet is excellent Well worth a visit

Back to a gym as I hurtle towards my 60th Birthday...daunting or so you might think....Not at all with Max at Maximise Fitness 😀💪 He has taken the time and patience to get to know me, my abilities and my goals and we have worked together to set a training and nutrition plan. The gym is a safe place to train at your pace with encouragement and advice from Max. I would recommend him to anyone, young or a little more mature if you are looking to improve your fitness and wellbeing.
