Fasting: Not About Starving — About Timing Your Fuel
Simple, sustainable, built for real life.
Fasting gets a bad reputation — people think it means skipping meals, going hungry, or depriving yourself. It doesn't.
At its best, fasting is simply timing when you eat, not restricting what you eat.
What it actually does
• Gives your digestion a daily rest — instead of processing food constantly, your body gets a break to focus on repair, recovery and energy balance
• Helps regulate insulin sensitivity — keeping levels steady makes fat management easier
• Creates a natural calorie buffer — an eating window often means fewer unnecessary snacks without counting every calorie
• Fits real life — many people find an eating window fits work, family and training better than rigid meal times
The important bits
• There is no one perfect window — 16:8 works for some, 14:10 for others. What matters is consistency and how you feel
• Never skip nutrition around training — fuel properly around your workout. Performance first, always
• Hydration is non-negotiable — water, black coffee and tea all keep you going during a fast
• It's not for everyone — if you're under 30, pregnant, recovering from illness or on medication, check with your doctor first. Listen to your body above all else
The Maximise approach
Fasting is just one tool in the box — not a rule, not a requirement, not a trend you have to follow.
If it fits your schedule and helps you feel your best — great. If it doesn't — that's fine too. The best nutrition plan is the one you can stick to consistently, and the one that lets you train hard, recover well, and feel good.
